The Shetland Sheepdog, affectionately known as the “Sheltie”, was once a Scottish farmer’s best friend and origin from the Shetland Islands. They sounded the alarm when anyone approached the property. One of the defining characteristics of Shelties is their high level of intelligence. They are quick learners and possess an innate desire to please their parents. Their sharp minds make them highly adaptable and capable of handling advanced tasks. Due to their historical role as sheepdogs in the Shetland Islands of Scotland they have strong herding instincts.
